Assam: CCTV alarm prevents cattle theft in Kaliabor, residents express frustration over rising crimes

CCTV alarm helped prevent cattle theft in Assam’s Kaliabor on January 20. A group of cattle thieves were almost caught in the act of stealing from a farm in Kaliabor’s Chatiyal area late last night, when the CCTV alarm started buzzing, alerting the family members. A gang of thieves, traveling in a luxury vehicle, attempted to steal cows from the property of one Pratibha Saikia.

The operation was foiled when the CCTV system, recently installed after a similar theft last month, triggered an alarm as the thieves approached the farm. The household members quickly noticed the intruders and watched as the thieves fled the scene. Their hasty escape was recorded on camera.

Despite the continuous rise in such crimes, the local police have not been able to make any arrests, leaving residents frustrated and expressing their dissatisfaction with law enforcement.

The authorities have yet to comment on the situation, but residents are calling for stronger action to address the thefts plaguing the area.
